At nhasports.com, our mission is to provide accurate, comprehensive, and trustworthy sports news. We understand that trust is earned through transparency. While we strive for perfection in every article, we acknowledge that errors can happen. When they do, our priority is to fix them openly and promptly.

1. Our Approach to Corrections

We believe that hiding mistakes damages trust more than the mistake itself. We do not “ghost edit” (change the text without acknowledgement) when a substantive error has occurred. Our goal is to ensure that the correct information is available to our readers as quickly as possible.

2. Types of Errors

Minor Errors (Typos & Style)

For minor issues that do not affect the factual meaning of the content—such as spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, or broken links—we will correct the text immediately. In these cases, a formal correction note is usually not added to avoid cluttering the article.

Substantive Errors (Facts & Context)

If an article contains factually incorrect information (e.g., incorrect score, wrong player name, misquoted statement, or inaccurate trade details), we will:

  1. Update the Article: Immediately revise the text with the accurate information.
  2. Add a Correction Note: A clear note will be placed at the bottom (or sometimes the top) of the article.
    • Example: Correction (Dec 17, 2025): An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that Denny Hamlin won the Daytona 500 in 2024. He won the race in 2016, 2019, and 2020. The article has been updated to reflect this.

Clarifications

Sometimes, information is technically accurate but phrased in a way that could be misleading or lacks necessary context. In such cases, we may revise the language and add a “Clarification” note to explain the change.

3. Retractions

In rare circumstances where a story is found to be fundamentally flawed, fabrication is discovered, or the premise of the article is proven entirely false, we may issue a Retraction.

  • The original headline will be modified to include “RETRACTION.”
  • The original text may be removed or struck through.
  • A prominent editor’s note will explain the reason for the retraction.

4. Social Media Corrections

If an incorrect story was shared on our social media platforms (X/Twitter, Facebook, etc.), we will not simply delete the post if it has gained significant traction. Instead, we will:

  • Delete the incorrect post (to stop the spread of misinformation).
  • Publish a new post with the correct information.
  • Explicitly state that the previous post contained an error.

5. How to Report an Error

We value our community’s role in keeping us accurate. If you spot a mistake in any of our coverage, please reach out to us directly.
